Besides giving your house a thorough scrub and re-organising all the clutter, there are also other spring cleaning jobs you may be forgetting.
We also have a few videos guides on each of these topics in our Videos section.
Here are a few ways to give every part of your life a spring clean.
Spring Clean Your Finances
It’s time to give your money, your cards and your accounts a big clean and reorganization.
Start by getting hold of your bank statements for the last few months. Dig through and find any debt or payments you may owe that need extra focus. Make a list of all the things you need take care of in order of priority, and start getting your cards and finances in order. Then look through those statements and see what you’re spending most money on: how much could you save if you paid a little closer attention?
You can then go claim the tax you may have fallen behind on or make a savings account that would perhaps encourage you to spend less every week. Research what you are eligible for benefit-wise and start applying so that you’re not missing out on anything.
Managing money is vital but also something we easily overlook. As you start getting things into perspective, you’ll be more aware of what you’re spending and much more prepared for any future plans that require great expenses.
Spring Clean Your Technology
Nowadays, our plans, jobs and even social lives revolve around technology. You probably need to give your computer, laptop or tablet a good wipe down and make that screen shiny again.
Besides the physical cleaning of your device, however, you can also start cleaning the drives. Organising files into named folders can make your life much easier when searching for a document. Start going through your computer, look at what you don’t need anymore, yet is still taking up storage space, and delete it. Then make sure to clear your Recycle Bin also. This will make your computer run faster and give you more storage for the future.
Pictures are a common issue when organising your drive. Every picture is either saved on a drive or straight on your desktop. It’s easy to trust that they’ll be there when you need them, but computer crashes happen all the time and you can easily lose important documents that you may not be able to replace. You can either use USB drives, hard drives or online storage: there are so many various ways of making certain that all your files are safe and accessible whenever you need them. This also counts for your phone and tablet. Your mobile phone could hold information and files that have not been stored anywhere else. Go through each folder, store files on other storage spaces and start de-cluttering your device.
Spring Clean Your Body
You need to remember you are a priority. Take this mission one step further and focus on your body. You can go on a food shop and start changing your diet to hold more vegetables, fruits and healthy snacks that can boost your body’s energy. Giving your body a break from processed foods, unhealthy snacks and masses of sugar can already start making you feel better and less tired.
To gain even more benefit from your new diet, you could start working out or work out more if you're doing it regularly. If you're not used to exercising, doing about an hour every week and then slowly increasing it can certainly benefit you. You’ll be surprised how much energy your body will release and how awake and refreshed you can feel. It gives you a thirst for life and motivation to work harder. This could also influence you to organise your time better. A daily plan either on what you want to achieve or what you need to take care of can remove the pressure. Having it all on paper eliminates the stress of remembering everything, and it gives you a certain amount of satisfaction and relief at the end of the day.
Another way to give yourself a spring clean is having a spa day and starting with a big pamper day. Moisturize, cleanse and massage your skin and your body. Once you’re renewed, you can try a yoga class or meditation. Your mind probably needs a spring clean also. Even if you haven’t attended a class before, it’s a great way to de-clutter worries and anxieties you may be fighting. It’s also a way for your body to reach complete relaxation, re-boost your spirit and have you completely invigorated.
